A WINTER WEDDING MADE WONDERFUL
There is something enchanting about winter weddings and then there is tying the knot in Courchevel, the luxurious French ski resort situated in the heart of the Alps, a higher level of wonder.
High snow-capped peaks, deep luscious forests, white snow-filled fields and cosy wooden chalets with roaring fires – a winter wedding in Courchevel can be the most romantic of ceremonies making all your fairy-tale winter wedding dreams come true. There are five towns and villages that come under the umbrella of the brand ‘Courchevel’, all of which are linked to the slopes thanks to an extensive network of ski and summer lifts. Located at different altitudes, you’ll find Courchevel Le Praz, Courchevel Village, Courchevel Moriond, Courchevel and, a bit further out the valley, La Tania. The most glamours place to get married is in Courchevel 1850 where this wedding was celebrated.
The London based team of BOLTE Event Design planned an authentic fusion wedding in a winter wonderland setting for the couple who celebrated with close friends during their the multi-day celebration event.
THE WELCOME PARTY
The opening of the wedding weekend was at L’Anerie for the dynamic fondue savoyarde, made with kirsch (a sour cherry brandy), white Savoy wine infused with herbs and the combo of Beaufort, Comte and Reblochon cheeses. In a warm setting with a decoration inspired by an alpine chalet. A cosy wooden decorated place with ski equipment all around. Even the clothes are traditional hanging to dry under the roof.
THE CEREMONY
The next day at noon, guests were arriving with gondolas higher up to the city centre to a place which has always exuded the glamour – Les Airelles. Sitting pretty on the slopes in 1850 – Courchevel’s centre – this hotel looks like a Russian castle, with its snow-capped turrets and ice-draped windows. This venue was the meeting point for the guests, a local music group guided the guests crossing the slopes on a tour. They walked into the forest behind the hotel, hot mould wine from a open fire place kept the guests warm.
Fresh snow covered the scene, the natural raw beauty of the forest was enhanced by a magical décor! Timo Bolte, CEO of BOLTE Event Design and his team beautified the valley with colourful ribbons and hundred of roses creating a relaxed fun fair feeling. Logs and benches with sheep skin opened the view to a platform where the ceremony was held. Two ice sculptures shaped as ancient Greek columns with waterfalls and hanging rose garlands and ribbons were framing the ceremony. The organic shaped aisle was framed by beds made of thousands colourful mixed roses and flower petals.
THE RECEPTION
Alongside the slope of the Verdons, the altitude restaurant Le Chalet de Pierres is a real institution in Courchevel. The historic chalet’s identity is kept with all the traditional codes and uniqueness of the place. Ancient woods, carved stone and a master fireplace. The architecture and decoration of this former Maurienne station reflects perfectly the cultural heritage of Courchevel ski resort. There wasn’t a better place than this for the reception. While the guests arrived via a shuttle service, the couple decided to take the dog sleigh and went escorted by fireworks down the slopes to meet their guests and create memories together.
Timo Bolte designed and created a maximalist look for the table settings, in which the bold prints of the tablecloths contrasted with a royal colour palette of florals and fruits installations to decorate the table escapes. Each table place was adorned and personalized with a velvet ribbon embroidered with the name of he guest. Bolte’s designs perfectly harmonized the scene without taking away the cozy feeling of the luxury chalet.
