The Art of Romance
Legacy, Luxury and Glamour at Rosewood Hotel Georgia
VANCOUVER, BC : Within the storied walls of Vancouver’s most historic and elegant luxury boutique hotel, celebrated designer Jason Matlo launched his 2012 bridal collection last night, with exquisite jewellery designs by Tiffany & Co.
First opening its doors in 1927, the Hotel Georgia came to be known as Vancouver’s most elegant retreat. Home to Hollywood legends and British royalty, the past 85 years have witnessed countless weddings, engagements and romantic tate-a -tates within its graceful surrounds. Re-opening in July 2011, the new Rosewood Hotel Georgia revealed a loving restoration; timeless design stayed true to the hotel’s glamourous past with many original features meticulously restored. In the Spanish Ballroom, where Matlo’s runway show took place, decorative cornices and crown mouldings resemble the original 1920’s design with simple understated colours creating unique ambiance.
Says Matlo of his new bridal collection, Classic couture shapes and details are inspired by 1950’s silhouettes with retreated waist lines and gathered full skirts. The textures, beading, prints and lace are reminiscent of art deco prints. Dove grey, champagne, ecru and black tones create a modern bridal look that although vintage in concept is opulent, chic and modern.
World renowned jeweller Tiffany & Co., a name synonymous with beauty, craftsmanship, design and romance, provided the perfect accent to the stunning gowns. It was Tiffany & Co. that introduced the engagement ring as we know it today with the celebrated six prong Tiffany Setting, a Tiffany diamond truly makes hearts beat faster.
The city’s ultimate romantic venue, Rosewood Hotel Georgia offers a complete range of services, venues and amenities tied to true love including specialty suites, Sense, A Rosewood Spa®, the Spanish Ballroom, Reflections, Hawksworth Restaurant and through Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, an unrivalled selection of the world’s top honeymoon destinations.
