SURMESUR – Personalized Style for Men
On a recent trip to Vancouver, British Columbia, I (Gordon Cooper) had the great fortune of discovering SURMESUR – a personalized custom tailoring shop that has locations all across Canada and eastern USA. Its newest flagship store is in Yaletown, the trendy upscale warehouse district in this stunning metropolis. Upon entering the shop one of the first things to present itself is a huge touchscreen computer. It is here that the whole process of creating a personalized look with suit and shirt takes place.
I was greeted by one of SURMESUR’s style experts, Jonathan, who has the esteemed duty of General Manager. “It’s all about planning” he tells me as we discuss how the process of selecting textiles, cuts, styles and embellishments all work together to create a finely tailored look specifically for each client. This all takes time so make sure you start at least three months prior to your big event, whether it be your wedding or something else that you must look your utmost best.

The fun and fascinating multi-step process goes something like this: Book and then come in for your first consultation and take a look at their many fabrics and options. You will be able to start designing the perfect look for your wedding or event with the help of their expert consultants. Next, organize yourself and groomsmen to attend an appointment to take all the necessary measurements. SURMESUR will even allow private parties (food, drink, music, etc.) to make this a really fun and memorable occasion where styles are finalized and sent off for creation. Come back a few weeks later for your fitting. All needed alterations are included. Each suit will be made specifically with the measurements of the person wearing it, while taking into consideration their body type, posture, style, and comfort. In addition to choosing from a wide selection of fabrics in different colours, compositions, and price ranges, personalizing your wedding attire does not stop with an embroidery of your initials or wedding date in your suit. From rear slits adapting to your morphology through the functional buttonholes on the sleeves, the custom-make allows you to choose everything! You can also personalize (or even create) your inner lining. With more than 5,000 weddings under their belts, SURMESUR wedding consultants will be able to help guide you through the process. Whether you have a clear idea of what you are looking for or not, they will be happy to help you through the creative process and ensure a personalized follow-up and support until your clothes fit perfectly. At SURMESUR, they believe great service doesn’t stop after you press the order button. Every couple is unique and every wedding is different! With hundreds of fabrics and multiple personalization options, the possibilities are endless!
ALWAYS TIMELESS
A classic wedding is the definition of timeless, one that you will remember fondly. Consider suits with a more classic look: charcoal, dark grey and navy are a perfect match to any wedding dress.
TRULY WHIMSICAL
It’s the perfect style for the more creative and free-spirited couples! There are many great options to look the part. Brown, beige, blue and light-grey will always be SURMESUR’s go-to. If you are looking for a bit of a bolder look, teal, forest green, and rust can really make a statement. All that matters is that you truly love the way you look on your big day.
LASTING
The purchase of a custom tuxedo is definitely a luxury that is worth it! This is without a doubt the most iconic wedding suit. It ensures elegance and distinction and can be worn again to any future black tie events.
KEY DETAILS
There is one key detail on a tuxedo: the lapel! It is distinguished by its brilliance and contrasting fabric, but also by its style! Adding satin on the lapel and pockets of your tuxedo gives a more elegant and sophisticated look.
