DIOR CRUISE 2022 ~ REINTERPRETS CIVILIZATION’S ROOTS

Dior presents the Cruise 2022 collection in Greece, a surreal reinterpretation of civilization’s roots.

A series of photographs of one of monsieur Dior’s Haute Couture lines, taken near the iconic Parthenon in 1951, was the inspiration for the Dior Cruise 2022 collection. In the heart of the city dedicated to Athena, Maria Grazia Chiuri reinvents her genealogy and tweaks the codes – art lies not in the object created, but in one’s ability to create – such as the peplum. The goddess tunic, evoking marble and ancient statuary, is resolutely ethereal thanks to its fabrics and handmade pleats, a chiaroscuro in fluting.

THE BEAUTY LOOK

Peter Philips, creative and image director for Dior Makeup, created a beauty look with a surprising eye feature for the Cruise collection unveiled in Athens. He describes “eyes subtly made up using the 5 couleurs couture cruise 2022 palette, then emphasized by pearls. The eyes blend the graphism of the traditional greek eye, with punk insolence. the look also draws inspiration from the beauty of surrealist art, such as that discovered by the legendary gallerist, Alexandre Iolas.”
